Indian Textile Minister Malang (Dayanidhi Maran) recently revealed that India is planning to import 2,000 tons from China, high-quality silk to meet the center of the famous Indian Kanchipuram silk weavers and the needs of Benares.
Malang said, has been for some time, the two centers of the silk weavers complain about a lack of quality.
He said the government has decided to import 2,000 tons of high-quality Chinese silk, and the import of silk available to the center of the two silk weavers.
He also disclosed that the government order to protect domestic industry, has levied anti-dumping duty on silk.
